Overview
Design a poster based on a typeface of your choosing. Your design should use only type elements as part of the form while presenting the history, designer, and brief summary of design period in an immersive manner.
Concept
Rockwell is a geometric slab serif typeface that was originally designed in 1910 and then redesigned to it’s current rendition in 1934. Throughout it’s history, it has primarily served for setting headlines, as it’s bold and assertive qualities demand attention to wherever it is placed. This poster I designed for Rockwell takes advantage of it’s bold and geometric qualities, allowing the headline (which is a play off a bold and aggressive classic rock song) to set the grid of the poster. While the content talks about the long history of the old typeface, I juxtaposed it with a modular, modern color palette to show that Rockwell still has a place in today’s design world.
