Overview
Scrubs Cafe is a new restaurant on the UC Davis Campus owned and operated by the campus Student Housing and Dining Services department. At the time they came to us to develop a visual identity for the restaurant, a sign had already been installed to the exterior of the new building. Therefore, the client wanted us to build a brand that incorporated the typography on the sign without the addition of any icons.
Concept
As the lead designer for this rebrand, I wanted was to bring dynamic elements into the typography already established by the exterior sign in order to make it a fun, energetic, and modern mark. The solution was the addition on an angled element, which helped the type become a mark that could stand on its own as well as be incorporated into other collateral in a way that would be unique to Student Housing and Dining Services, while still keeping the visual standards of the university.
